Rush Live
Sitting at the Cricket Pavilion waiting to see Rush in concert. The place is packed with 40 somethings, many with their kids, to see one of the greatest progressive rock bands ever.
There is no sign of an opening band, so early on my hope is that the concert will still go three hours with non-stop rock and roll. Needless to say, this will be a blog-in-progress.
Limelight opener, nice.
Digital Man
Just between us - Alex has the 12 string on a stand for the acoustic bit. Smooth transition.
During The Main Monkey Business, some dude dressed like a chef comes out to what appears to be bread ovens on stage. Not sure what it was all about, maybe it will be revealed soon. I read in Wine Spectator that the band travels with a first class chef. Maybe he is actually preparing dinner for after the show...
Geddy and the gang sound great by the way.
During Between the Wheels, Alex pulls out his black Gibson. Geddy is a little rough here. But hey, they still ROCK.
They have been playing about an hour and a half and just stopped to 'change the bateries'. My guess is that they needed a bit of a breather. Being an outdoor concert in Arizona, it is hot, muggy and loud. Hydrate!
Two hours later, the chef is back basting something in the on-stage ovens. I wonder what's for dinner!
So all in all it was three and a half hours of just Rush. Never got to see what was cooking and the traffic out ws a real buzz killer, so to speak. Lots of fun though, good music, good friends and lots of interesting people to watch.
